The Toyota Land Cruiser is the ultimate overland platform — and it deserves a dash cam install that matches its premium build quality. Whether you have the legendary J200 (2019–2021) or the all-new J250 (2024+), Dongar has plug & play adapters that tap into OEM connectors for a clean, factory-looking installation. No cutting, no splicing, no fusebox work.

Why not just hardwire? The Land Cruiser is a premium vehicle — owners expect a clean, OEM-quality install. Traditional add-a-fuse hardwire kits mean routing wires through the dashboard, modifying fuse box covers, and leaving visible cable runs. Dongar's plug & play adapters bypass the fuse box entirely — everything hides behind the mirror shroud or inside the domelight cavity for a truly invisible install.

Which Adapter Fits Your Land Cruiser?

J250 Land Cruiser (2024+)

The all-new J250 has up to three connection points depending on your trim and model year. The 5-pin OEM dashcam connector was found taped up in the domelight cavity on Premium trims — and likely all 2025+ trims.

Trim Mirror (DCA-10B) Domelight (DCA-5A) TSS 3.0 (DCA-16T) PRO / PRO+
Premium ✓ (2025+) ✓ (5A or 10B)
1958 ✓ (2025+) ✓ (5A or 10B)
First Edition ✗ (2024 only) ✓ (10B)
Base ✓ (10B)
DCA-5A confirmed by LandCruiserForum: The 5-pin OEM dashcam connector was found "taped up by factory" in the domelight cavity on Premium trims. This is the same connector Toyota uses for their dealer-installed dashcam accessory. Likely present on all 2025+ J250 trims.

J200 Land Cruiser (2019–2021)

Heritage Edition (2020–2021) DCA-10B + DCA-12T Mirror + TSS 2.5 No PMA-01 in DB

Three Connection Points Explained

🔌 Rearview Mirror

DCA-10B (J250) • DCA-10B (J200)

Plugs into the auto-dimming mirror connector underneath the plastic mirror shroud. Works with both the standard homelink autodimming mirror AND the digital rearview mirror (rear camera mirror) — confirmed on LandCruiserForum. USB output mounts on the windshield near the mirror.

💡 Domelight Cavity

DCA-5A (2025+ J250)

Plugs into the pre-provisioned OEM dashcam connector inside the overhead console. Found taped up from factory in Premium trims. Lives entirely hidden in the ceiling — the cleanest possible install for a premium vehicle like the Land Cruiser.

🛡️ TSS Computer

DCA-16T (J250 TSS 3.0) • DCA-12T (J200 TSS 2.5)

Shares power from the Toyota Safety Sense lane-trace assist computer near the mirror base. Does NOT connect to the mirror itself. Available on all trims.

⚠️ Don't confuse the connectors! Behind the mirror shroud, you'll see both the mirror connector (10-pin) and the TSS computer connector (12-pin or 16-pin). They look similar but are different products for different connectors. The DCA-10B pamphlet warns: "Most Toyotas have a 12-Pin Safety Sense Connector that can easily be confused with your rearview mirror connection: DO NOT UNPLUG THIS." Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which adapter you need.

How to Install

Mirror Install (DCA-10B)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and remove the plastic shroud/cover
  2. Locate the mirror connector (10-pin) — NOT the nearby TSS connector
  3. Unplug the mirror harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done

Domelight Install (DCA-5A)

  1. Pull the overhead console / domelight assembly straight down (requires firm force — it clips in with 2–4 red clips)
  2. Locate the white 5-pin connector on the driver's side, usually taped up from the factory
  3. Plug the Dongar adapter into the connector
  4. Route the USB-C cable to your dash cam
  5. Push the domelight assembly back into place — done
Pro tip: The 5-pin domelight connector is the same one Toyota uses for their dealer-installed OEM dashcam accessory. It's on its own dedicated fuse, making it the safest option from a dealer-warranty perspective — especially important on a vehicle in the Land Cruiser's price range.

Parking Mode

Want your dash cam recording while your Land Cruiser is parked? The LC's hybrid drivetrain makes it an ideal candidate for extended parking mode.

A word about parking mode: It sounds great on paper — your dash cam watches your car 24/7. In reality, memory cards fill up quickly with motion-triggered clips (especially in busy parking lots), and most front-only or front+rear cameras won't capture a side-impact hit-and-run anyway. Repeated charge/discharge cycles can also wear on your vehicle battery over time. That said, if you do want parking mode, the Dongar approach gives you more flexibility than generic hardwire kits — easy install, easy removal, and built-in voltage cutoff to protect your battery. That's why we invented these products: to give you more options, not fewer.

Dongar PRO PMA-01

3-position switch:
• IGN — on with engine only
• Timed — 4 hours after parking
• Continuous — up to 36 hrs, 11.8V cutoff

Includes 5A + 5C + 10B harnesses in one box. Use Harness 5A for 2024+ Land Cruiser domelight.

Dongar PRO+ PRS-01

OLED display + one-button menu:
• Custom voltage cutoff (0.01V precision)
• Custom timer (hrs + mins, default 8hr)
• Energy Budget mode (Eco/Normal/Heavy)
• 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC for Viofo/RedTiger

Same harnesses as PRO. Swap module & mount if upgrading.

Hybrid advantage for parking mode: The Land Cruiser's hybrid drivetrain uses a 288V traction battery to start the engine — the 12V accessory battery isn't used for starting at all. This means extended parking mode is even safer than on gas-only vehicles. Your dash cam can record for longer with less concern about battery drain. The PRO's low-voltage cutoff provides an extra safety net regardless.
Using a Viofo or RedTiger dash cam? These cameras have non-standard USB-C implementations. The Dongar PRO+ has dedicated "5V Output Always-On" and "Parking Mode CC" settings that bypass the USB-C handshake, letting these cameras properly enter and exit parking mode. The PRO will keep them recording continuously, but they won't enter their low-power standby state.

What Land Cruiser Owners Are Saying

Wow!! I found this by mistake while looking for a way to wire my 2018 Land Cruiser with my VanTrue dashcam. I watched a few videos on YouTube and figured I would try it out. Its so easy to install with a little patience. Looks factory installed and works great.

— Jeff B., Amazon Review ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ • Land Cruiser

The hybrid battery setup means parking mode is a total non-issue. The 12V isn't used for starting, so you can run continuous recording without worrying about being stranded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Dongar adapter fits the 2024+ Toyota Land Cruiser?

The J250 Land Cruiser (2024+) supports up to three adapters: DCA-10B for the rearview mirror, DCA-5A for the domelight cavity (2025+ trims), and DCA-16T for the TSS 3.0 computer. For parking mode, add the Dongar PRO (PMA-01) or PRO+ (PRS-01). Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm your specific trim.

Does the adapter work with the Land Cruiser's digital rearview mirror?

Yes. The DCA-10B has been confirmed compatible with both the standard homelink autodimming mirror and the digital rearview mirror (rear camera mirror) on the J250 Land Cruiser. This was verified by the LandCruiserForum community.

Is the Land Cruiser good for continuous parking mode?

The Land Cruiser is one of the best vehicles for extended parking mode. Its hybrid drivetrain uses a 288V traction battery to start the engine — the 12V accessory battery isn't involved in starting at all. This means your dash cam can record for extended periods with minimal concern about battery drain. The Dongar PRO/PRO+ low-voltage cutoff provides an extra safety net.

What's the difference between the 5-pin and 10-pin adapter?

The 5-pin (DCA-5A) plugs into the OEM dashcam connector inside the domelight/overhead console cavity — hidden in the ceiling. The 10-pin (DCA-10B) taps into the auto-dimming rearview mirror connector, with the USB output mounting on the windshield near the mirror. Both provide the same 18W USB-C power. For the Dongar PRO, all harnesses come in one box.

Will the Dongar PRO work with my Viofo / Garmin dash cam?

The Dongar PRO outputs true 18W USB-C (5V/9V/12V) and works with virtually all USB-C powered dash cams. Garmin Mini 2/Mini 3 work great with both PRO and PRO+. Viofo and RedTiger cameras have non-standard USB-C — the PRO will keep them recording, but for proper parking mode detection, the PRO+ is recommended (it has dedicated 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC settings).

What's the difference between DCA-12T and DCA-16T?

The DCA-12T is designed for the TSS 2.5 lane-trace computer found in the J200 Land Cruiser (2019–2021). The DCA-16T is for the newer TSS 3.0 computer in the J250 (2024+). They have different pin counts and pinouts — they are NOT interchangeable. Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which one fits your Land Cruiser.
