GX470 (2006–2009)

The GX470 uses an economy (non-auto-dimming) rearview mirror. The DCA-7B is designed specifically for this connector type. Simple, single-adapter install.

GX460 (2010–2011)

Early GX460 models use the older 12-pin auto-dimming mirror connector. Use DCA-12A for the 12-pin mirror connection, or DCA-14A for the 14-pin older mirror connector. Each is a standalone adapter with built-in USB-C output — just one adapter needed.

GX460 (2012–2019)

The mid-cycle GX460 switched to the 10-pin mirror connector. Use DCA-10B underneath the plastic mirror shroud — or DCA-14A if your GX460 has the older 14-pin mirror connector. Each adapter includes built-in USB-C output. Add PMA-01 (Dongar PRO) for parking mode capability.

GX460 (2020–2023)

The refreshed GX460 simplifies things — DCA-10B underneath the plastic mirror shroud is all you need for dash cam power. Add PMA-01 for parking mode.

GX550 (2024–2025)

The all-new GX550 is the hot platform right now. You have two independent connection options: DCA-10B at the mirror or DCA-16T at the TSS 3.0 computer — each works on its own. PMA-01 adds parking mode. For the Dongar PRO, use Harness 5A for 2024+ GX550.

GX550 (2026)

The 2026 GX550 is the same generation as 2024–2025. You have two independent connection options: DCA-10B at the mirror or DCA-16T at the TSS 3.0 computer — each works on its own. PMA-01 adds parking mode. For the Dongar PRO, use Harness 5A.

🪞 Economy Mirror

DCA-7B (GX470)

Plugs into the non-auto-dimming economy mirror connector on 2006–2009 GX470. Single adapter, single USB-C output. The simplest install in the GX lineup.

🔌 Auto-Dimming Mirror

DCA-10B (2012+) • DCA-12A (2010–2011)

Plugs into the auto-dimming mirror connector underneath the plastic mirror shroud. The DCA-10B handles 2012+ GX460 and 2024–2025 GX550. The DCA-12A covers 2010–2011 GX460.

🛡️ TSS 3.0 Computer

DCA-16T (GX550)

Shares power from the Lexus Safety System+ lane-trace assist computer near the mirror base. Does NOT connect to the mirror itself. Available on 2024+ GX550.

🔗 USB-C Output Adapter

DCA-14A (GX460 2010–2019)

Standalone adapter for older GX460 models (2010–2019) with the 14-pin mirror connector. Includes built-in USB-C output — no additional adapter needed.

⚠️ Don't confuse the connectors! Behind the mirror shroud on the GX550, you'll see both the mirror connector (10-pin) and the TSS computer connector (16-pin). They look similar but are different products for different connectors. The DCA-10B pamphlet warns: "Most vehicles have a Safety Sense Connector that can easily be confused with your rearview mirror connection: DO NOT UNPLUG THIS." Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which adapter you need.

How to Install

Mirror Install (DCA-10B / DCA-12A / DCA-7B)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and the 12-pin connector is accessible at the back of the mirror, no shroud removal required
  2. Locate the mirror connector — NOT the nearby TSS connector (GX550 only)
  3. Unplug the mirror harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam — done

TSS Install (DCA-16T) — GX550

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and remove the plastic shroud/cover
  2. Locate the 16-pin TSS 3.0 connector — it is near the mirror base but NOT the mirror connector itself
  3. Unplug the TSS harness
  4. Plug the Dongar DCA-16T adapter inline
  5. Route the USB-C cable to your dash cam
  6. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam — done
Pro tip: The Lexus GX is popular with the overlanding crowd. If you're running a Garmin or Viofo dash cam for trail recording, the mirror-based install (DCA-10B) keeps the cable short and tidy. No wires running down the A-pillar or across the dash.

Parking Mode

Want your dash cam recording while your GX is parked at the trailhead or overnight? You have options:

A word about parking mode: It sounds great on paper — your dash cam watches your car 24/7. In reality, memory cards fill up quickly with motion-triggered clips (especially in busy parking lots), and most front-only or front+rear cameras won't capture a side-impact hit-and-run anyway. Repeated charge/discharge cycles can also wear on your vehicle battery over time. That said, if you do want parking mode, the Dongar approach gives you more flexibility than generic hardwire kits — easy install, easy removal, and built-in voltage cutoff to protect your battery. That's why we invented these products: to give you more options, not fewer.

GX550 PRO note: The 2024+ GX550 uses Harness 5A with the Dongar PRO. This is included in the PRO box — no extra purchase needed. The PRO's low-voltage cutoff protects your battery whether you're parked overnight at camp or in the office parking lot.
Using a Viofo or RedTiger dash cam? These cameras have non-standard USB-C implementations. The Dongar PRO+ has dedicated "5V Output Always-On" and "Parking Mode CC" settings that bypass the USB-C handshake, letting these cameras properly enter and exit parking mode. The PRO will keep them recording continuously, but they won't enter their low-power standby state.

Viofo and RedTiger cameras have non-standard USB-C — the PRO will keep them recording, but for proper parking mode detection, the PRO+ is recommended (it has dedicated 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC settings).
