12-Pin Type T — Standalone

DCA-16T 2023-2026

16-Pin Type T — Standalone

DCA-10B 2023-2026 XSE

XSE owners (2023-2026): Your Corolla has two connection points — the TSS 3.0 computer (DCA-16T) and the auto-dimming mirror (DCA-10B). Both work great. The DCA-16T is the more popular choice. If you want to power a second device (like a radar detector), you can run both adapters simultaneously since they're on different circuits.

Connection Points Explained

🛡️ TSS Computer (DCA-12T / DCA-16T)

All Corolla trims, 2019-2026

Shares power from the Toyota Safety Sense lane-trace assist computer located underneath the plastic mirror shroud. Does NOT connect to the mirror itself. The DCA-12T fits 2019-2022 models (TSS 2.5), while the DCA-16T fits 2023-2026 models (TSS 3.0).

🔌 Auto-Dimming Mirror (DCA-10B)

2023-2026 XSE only

Plugs into the auto-dimming mirror connector underneath the plastic mirror shroud. Only available on XSE trims, which come equipped with the auto-dimming mirror. USB output mounts on the windshield near the mirror.

⚠️ Don't confuse the connectors! Underneath the plastic mirror shroud, you'll see both the mirror connector (10-pin, XSE only) and the TSS computer connector (12-pin or 16-pin). They look similar but are different products for different connectors. The DCA-10B pamphlet warns: "Most Toyotas have a 12-Pin Safety Sense Connector that can easily be confused with your rearview mirror connection: DO NOT UNPLUG THIS." Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which adapter you need.

How to Install

TSS Computer Install (DCA-12T / DCA-16T)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and carefully remove the plastic mirror shroud/cover
  2. Locate the TSS lane-trace computer connector (12-pin on 2019-2022, 16-pin on 2023-2026) — NOT the mirror connector
  3. Unplug the TSS harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and TSS computer
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done

Mirror Install (DCA-10B — XSE Only)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and remove the plastic mirror shroud/cover
  2. Locate the 10-pin auto-dimming mirror connector — NOT the nearby TSS connector
  3. Unplug the mirror harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done

Want your dash cam recording while your Corolla is parked? You have options:

A word about parking mode: It sounds great on paper — your dash cam watches your car 24/7. In reality, memory cards fill up quickly with motion-triggered clips (especially in busy parking lots), and most front-only or front+rear cameras won't capture a side-impact hit-and-run anyway. Repeated charge/discharge cycles can also wear on your vehicle battery over time. Using a Viofo or RedTiger dash cam? These cameras have non-standard USB-C implementations. The Dongar PRO+ has dedicated "5V Output Always-On" and "Parking Mode CC" settings that bypass the USB-C handshake, letting these cameras properly enter and exit parking mode. The PRO will keep them recording continuously, but they won't enter their low-power standby state.

What changed between the 2022 and 2023 Corolla that requires a different adapter?

Toyota upgraded the Toyota Safety Sense system from TSS 2.5 to TSS 3.0 for the 2023 model year refresh. The TSS 2.5 computer uses a 12-pin connector (DCA-12T), while TSS 3.0 uses a 16-pin connector (DCA-16T). The connectors are physically different sizes and are not interchangeable.

Does the Dongar adapter work with my Corolla Hybrid?

Yes. The Dongar adapter works identically on gas and hybrid Corollas. Both use the same TSS computer connector. 2020-2022 Hybrid LE uses the DCA-12T. 2023-2026 Hybrid LE/SE/XLE/Nightshade use the DCA-16T. Will installing a Dongar adapter affect my Toyota Safety Sense features?

Can I use a Dongar on my GR Corolla?

Yes. The GR Corolla (2023-2026) uses the DCA-16T, same as all other 2023+ Corolla trims. The GR's performance upgrades are drivetrain-related — the TSS 3.0 computer and mirror area are the same as the standard Corolla.
