The Toyota Sienna is the family minivan that deserves dash cam protection on every trip. Whether you're running carpool, road-tripping, or just commuting, a Dongar adapter gives you clean, hidden dash cam power with zero tools and zero splicing. Every Sienna from 2019 to 2026 is covered — including the all-hybrid models from 2021 onward.

Why not just hardwire? Hardwiring a dash cam means tapping into the fuse box, running wires, and potentially voiding your warranty. Dongar's plug & play adapters tap into existing Toyota connectors — no splicing, no tools, and everything hides behind the mirror shroud or inside the domelight cavity. Perfect for a family vehicle where you don't want to modify anything.

Connection Points Explained

Rearview Mirror

DCA-10B (2021+) • DCA-12A (2019–2020)

The DCA-10B plugs in underneath the plastic mirror shroud on the auto-dimming mirror connector. The USB output mounts on the windshield near the mirror — easy to access and disconnect. On 2019–2020 models, the DCA-12A plugs into the older 12-pin mirror connector.

Domelight Cavity

DCA-5A (2025+)

Plugs into the pre-provisioned OEM dashcam connector inside the overhead console. This is the same port Toyota uses for their dealer-installed dashcam. Lives entirely hidden in the ceiling. Driver's side.

TSS Computer

DCA-12T (all years)

Shares power from the Toyota Safety Sense lane-trace assist computer near the mirror base. Does NOT connect to the mirror itself. Works even on base trims (like LE) without an auto-dimming mirror.

Don't confuse the connectors! Behind the mirror shroud, you'll see both the mirror connector and the TSS computer connector. They look similar but are different products for different connectors. The DCA-10B pamphlet warns: "Most Toyotas have a 12-Pin Safety Sense Connector that can easily be confused with your rearview mirror connection: DO NOT UNPLUG THIS." Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which adapter you need.

How to Install

Mirror Install — DCA-10B (10-pin, 2021+ Sienna)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and remove the plastic mirror shroud/cover
  2. Locate the 10-pin mirror connector — NOT the nearby TSS connector
  3. Unplug the mirror harness
  4. Plug the DCA-10B adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done

Mirror Install — DCA-12A (12-pin, 2019–2020 Sienna)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down — the 12-pin connector is accessible at the back of the mirror, no shroud removal required
  2. Pull the connector out toward the front of the vehicle to disconnect the mirror harness
  3. Plug the DCA-12A adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  4. Push the connection back into place
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam — done

Domelight Install (DCA-5A) — 2025+ Sienna

  1. Pull the overhead console / domelight assembly straight down (requires firm force — it clips in with 2–4 red clips)
  2. Locate the white 5-pin connector on the driver's side, usually taped up from the factory
  3. Plug the Dongar adapter into the connector
  4. Route the USB-C cable to your dash cam
  5. Push the domelight assembly back into place — done

TSS Install (DCA-12T)

  1. Tilt the rearview mirror down and remove the plastic shroud
  2. Locate the TSS lane-trace computer connector (12-pin) near the mirror base — this is NOT the mirror connector
  3. Unplug the TSS harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and TSS module
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done
Pro tip: YouTube install videos are available for the Sienna. Multiple owners report the entire install takes under 5 minutes — even for first-timers. One Reddit user completed the full install in under 1.5 hours including the dash cam itself with no prior experience.

Parking Mode

Want your dash cam recording while your Sienna is parked at soccer practice or the airport? You have options:

A word about parking mode: It sounds great on paper — your dash cam watches your car 24/7. In reality, memory cards fill up quickly with motion-triggered clips (especially in busy parking lots), and most front-only or front+rear cameras won't capture a side-impact hit-and-run anyway. Repeated charge/discharge cycles can also wear on your vehicle battery over time. That said, if you do want parking mode, the Dongar approach gives you more flexibility than generic hardwire kits — easy install, easy removal, and built-in voltage cutoff to protect your battery. That's why we invented these products: to give you more options, not fewer.

Dongar PRO PMA-01

3-position switch:
• IGN — on with engine only
• Timed — 4 hours after parking
• Continuous — up to 36 hrs, 11.8V cutoff

Includes 5A + 5C + 10B harnesses in one box. Use Harness 5A for Sienna 2025+.

Dongar PRO+ PRS-01

OLED display + one-button menu:
• Custom voltage cutoff (0.01V precision)
• Custom timer (hrs + mins, default 8hr)
• Energy Budget mode (Eco/Normal/Heavy)
• 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC for Viofo/RedTiger

Same harnesses as PRO. Swap module & mount if upgrading.

Sienna Hybrid owners (2021+): Every Sienna since 2021 is a hybrid. Your hybrid doesn't use the 12V battery to start the engine — the high-voltage hybrid system handles that. This means extended parking mode is even less of a concern for your battery. The PRO's low-voltage cutoff provides an extra safety net regardless.
Using a Viofo or RedTiger dash cam? These cameras have non-standard USB-C implementations. The Dongar PRO+ has dedicated "5V Output Always-On" and "Parking Mode CC" settings that bypass the USB-C handshake, letting these cameras properly enter and exit parking mode. The PRO will keep them recording continuously, but they won't enter their low-power standby state.

What Sienna Owners Are Saying

First time ever trying to do something like this and it was very easy for a novice like me. I used the Dongar Pro to access the 5pin connector to make this a plug and play solution. Followed a YouTube vid and was done in less than 1.5 hours

That Dongar thing is pretty slick and not over-priced at $69 considering it does low voltage cut off and no splicing needed.

— u/UltraEngine60, r/ToyotaSienna

That's slick. I looked into this setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Dongar adapter do I need for my Sienna?

It depends on your year and trim. 2025–2026 XLE/XSE/Limited/Platinum/Woodland: DCA-10B (mirror), DCA-5A (domelight), or DCA-12T (TSS). 2025–2026 LE: DCA-12T or DCA-5A. 2021–2024 XLE and above: DCA-10B or DCA-12T. 2021–2024 LE: DCA-12T only. 2019–2020 (non-L): DCA-12A or DCA-12T. 2019–2020 L: DCA-12T only. Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm.

How is Dongar different from a hardwire kit or add-a-fuse?

Traditional hardwire kits require splicing into wires or tapping the fuse box with an add-a-fuse. This voids some warranties, leaves exposed wiring, and can take 30–60 minutes. Dongar adapters plug directly into existing Toyota connectors with zero tools, zero splicing, and a sub-5-minute install. Everything hides behind the mirror shroud or inside the domelight cavity. If you ever need to remove it, just unplug — no trace left behind.

My Sienna is a hybrid. Does parking mode drain the 12V battery?

Every Sienna from 2021 onward is a hybrid. The hybrid system uses the high-voltage battery to start the engine, not the 12V battery. This means your 12V battery can tolerate more drain for dash cam parking mode without any starting risk. The Dongar PRO's low-voltage cutoff (11.8V) provides an extra safety net, and the PRO+ lets you set a custom cutoff with 0.01V precision.

Can I install this myself with no experience?

Absolutely. The Sienna install is one of the most novice-friendly in the Dongar lineup. As one Reddit user put it: "First time ever trying to do something like this and it was very easy for a novice like me." YouTube install videos walk you through every step. The entire process takes under 5 minutes for the adapter itself — no tools required.

What's the difference between the DCA-10B and DCA-12T on my Sienna?

The DCA-10B plugs into the 10-pin auto-dimming rearview mirror connector underneath the plastic mirror shroud. It requires trims with an auto-dimming mirror (XLE and above on 2021+). The DCA-12T plugs into the TSS lane-trace assist computer — a separate module near the mirror base. The DCA-12T works on ALL trims including the base LE, since it doesn't depend on the mirror type. They are NOT interchangeable.

Will the Dongar PRO work with my Garmin / Viofo / BlackVue dash cam?

The Dongar PRO outputs true 18W USB-C (5V/9V/12V) and works with virtually all USB-C powered dash cams. Garmin Mini 2/Mini 3 work perfectly with both PRO and PRO+. Viofo and RedTiger cameras have non-standard USB-C — the PRO keeps them recording, but for proper parking mode detection, the PRO+ is recommended (it has dedicated 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC settings). BlackVue and Thinkware use DC barrel plugs — special cables are in development.
