The Toyota Sequoia is Toyota's full-size SUV workhorse — a family hauler that's been going strong since 2001. Whether you're driving a second-gen (2011–2016) with the classic body-on-frame V8 or the current-gen (2022+) that shares the Tundra's TNGA-F platform, Dongar has a plug & play dash cam adapter for your Sequoia. No hardwiring, no fuse taps, no tools — just clean, hidden power in under 5 minutes.

Why not just hardwire? The current-gen Sequoia (2022+) shares its platform with the Tundra, and Toyota made the fuse box increasingly difficult to access with plastic covers. Dongar's plug & play adapters bypass the fuse box entirely — no cutting, no tools, and everything hides underneath the plastic mirror shroud or inside the domelight cavity.

Which Adapter Fits Your Sequoia?

Current Gen Sequoia (2022–2026)

The current-gen Sequoia shares the Tundra platform and supports up to three connection points depending on your trim. Most trims get the mirror adapter, domelight, and parking mode options.

Connection Points Explained

Rearview Mirror

DCA-10B (2019+) • DCA-14A (2011–2016)

Plugs into the auto-dimming mirror connector underneath the plastic mirror shroud. USB output mounts on the windshield near the mirror — easy to access and disconnect. The DCA-10B is for 2019+ models with the 10-pin mirror connector; DCA-14A is a standalone adapter for 2011–2016 models with the older 14-pin mirror connector.

Domelight Cavity

DCA-5A (2022+)

Plugs into the pre-provisioned OEM dashcam connector inside the overhead console. This is the same port Toyota uses for their dealer-installed dashcam. Lives entirely hidden in the ceiling. Available on current-gen (2022+) Sequoia.

TSS Computer

DCA-12T (TSS 2.5) • DCA-12A (12-Pin A)

Shares power from the Toyota Safety Sense lane-trace assist computer near the mirror base. Does NOT connect to the mirror itself. Available on 2019+ models with TSS.

Don't confuse the connectors! Behind the mirror shroud, you'll see both the mirror connector and the TSS computer connector. They look similar but are different products for different connectors. The DCA-10B pamphlet warns: "Most Toyotas have a 12-Pin Safety Sense Connector that can easily be confused with your rearview mirror connection: DO NOT UNPLUG THIS." Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm which adapter you need.

How to Install

Mirror Install (DCA-10B / DCA-14A)

  1. Tilt your rearview mirror down and remove the plastic mirror shroud/cover
  2. Locate the mirror connector (10-pin on 2019+, 14-pin on 2011–2016) underneath the plastic mirror shroud — NOT the nearby TSS connector
  3. Unplug the mirror harness
  4. Plug the Dongar adapter inline between the harness and mirror
  5. Route the USB-C cable behind the headliner to your dash cam
  6. Replace the shroud — done

Domelight Install (DCA-5A) — 2022+ Only

  1. Pull the overhead console / domelight assembly straight down (requires firm force — it clips in with 2–4 red clips)
  2. Locate the white 5-pin connector on the driver's side, usually taped up from the factory
  3. Plug the Dongar adapter into the connector
  4. Route the USB-C cable to your dash cam
  5. Push the domelight assembly back into place — done
Pro tip: The 5-pin domelight connector is the same one Toyota uses for their dealer-installed OEM dashcam accessory. It's on its own dedicated fuse, making it the safest option from a dealer-warranty perspective. Perfect for the Sequoia's long family road trips where you want peace of mind on film.

Parking Mode

Want your dash cam recording while your Sequoia is parked? You have options:

A word about parking mode: It sounds great on paper — your dash cam watches your car 24/7. In reality, memory cards fill up quickly with motion-triggered clips (especially in busy parking lots), and most front-only or front+rear cameras won't capture a side-impact hit-and-run anyway. Repeated charge/discharge cycles can also wear on your vehicle battery over time. That said, if you do want parking mode, the Dongar approach gives you more flexibility than generic hardwire kits — easy install, easy removal, and built-in voltage cutoff to protect your battery. That's why we invented these products: to give you more options, not fewer.

Dongar PRO PMA-01

3-position switch:
• IGN — on with engine only
• Timed — 4 hours after parking
• Continuous — up to 36 hrs, 11.8V cutoff

Includes 5A + 5C + 10B harnesses in one box. Use Harness 5A for Sequoia 2022+ domelight.

Dongar PRO+ PRS-01

OLED display + one-button menu:
• Custom voltage cutoff (0.01V precision)
• Custom timer (hrs + mins, default 8hr)
• Energy Budget mode (Eco/Normal/Heavy)
• 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC for Viofo/RedTiger

Same harnesses as PRO. Swap module & mount if upgrading.

Sequoia i-FORCE MAX Hybrid owners (2023+): Your hybrid doesn't use the 12V battery to start the engine — the hybrid system handles that. This means extended parking mode is even less of a concern for your battery. The PRO's low-voltage cutoff provides an extra safety net regardless. Perfect for keeping your full-size SUV monitored in parking garages and trailheads.
Using a Viofo or RedTiger dash cam? These cameras have non-standard USB-C implementations. The Dongar PRO+ has dedicated "5V Output Always-On" and "Parking Mode CC" settings that bypass the USB-C handshake, letting these cameras properly enter and exit parking mode. The PRO will keep them recording continuously, but they won't enter their low-power standby state.

What Sequoia & Toyota SUV Owners Are Saying

I love the Dongar. After years of dumb cigarette lighter cables that are impractical to run from a center console up to the windshield, the Dongar makes it really easy.

— u/AlpacaNeb, r/ToyotaTacoma • Toyota SUV owner

As advertised… It was plug and play into the digital rear view mirror. Worked great. Easy install, no unsightly wiring hanging off the camera.

— Anthony, Amazon Review • Toyota owner

After a bunch of research, I finally decided on the Viofo A229 Ultra 2-channel with the Dongar classic harness to power the camera from the rear view mirror.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Dongar adapter do I need for my Toyota Sequoia?

It depends on your year and trim. 2022–2026 (most trims): DCA-10B (mirror), DCA-12T (TSS), DCA-5A (domelight), or PMA-01 (PRO). 2025–2026 1794 Edition: DCA-5A + PMA-01 only. 2019–2021 Limited/Platinum/TRD Pro: DCA-10B + DCA-12A + DCA-12T + PMA-01. 2019–2021 SR5/TRD Sport: DCA-10B + DCA-12T + PMA-01 (some: DCA-12T only). 2011–2016 Limited/Platinum: DCA-14A only. Use the Compatibility Finder to confirm.

Does the Sequoia 2022+ have the same domelight connector as the Tundra?

Yes. The current-gen Sequoia (2022+) shares the TNGA-F platform with the Tundra, and both have the same pre-provisioned 5-pin OEM dashcam connector in the domelight cavity. The DCA-5A works identically in both vehicles. If you've already installed a Dongar on a Tundra, the Sequoia install will feel familiar.

Can I use the Dongar PRO for parking mode in my Sequoia?

Absolutely. The Dongar PRO (PMA-01) includes harnesses for the 10-pin mirror, 5-pin domelight, and 5-pin Type C connections. For 2022+ Sequoia, use Harness 5A for the domelight connection. The PRO offers timed (4-hour), continuous (up to 36 hours), and IGN-only modes with an 11.8V battery cutoff. For more control, the PRO+ adds a custom timer, voltage precision to 0.01V, and Energy Budget mode — great for long stays at trailheads or airports.

How does the Dongar compare to a traditional hardwire kit for the Sequoia?

Traditional hardwire kits require accessing the fuse box, using add-a-fuse taps, and routing wires across the A-pillar — a 30–90 minute job with tools. On the current-gen Sequoia, Toyota's fuse box covers make this even harder. Dongar adapters install in under 5 minutes with zero tools: you unplug the mirror (or pop out the domelight), plug in the adapter inline, and replace the cover. It's 100% reversible with no trace left behind. Both approaches can power parking mode, but Dongar gives you true 18W USB-C PD output — most hardwire kits use barrel plugs or USB-A.

Will the Dongar work with my Viofo, Garmin, or BlackVue dash cam in the Sequoia?

The Dongar outputs true 18W USB-C (5V/9V/12V) and works with virtually all USB-C powered dash cams. Garmin Mini 2/Mini 3 work great with both PRO and PRO+. Viofo and RedTiger cameras have non-standard USB-C — the PRO will keep them recording, but for proper parking mode detection, the PRO+ is recommended (it has dedicated 5V always-on + Parking Mode CC settings). BlackVue and Thinkware use DC barrel plugs — special cables are in development.
