DONGAR PRO+

I have a 2026 Toyota Sienna with a three-channel Viofo A229 Plus setup, bought for its clean install and parking mode support.

I first used the 10-pin harness that taps the plug behind the rear-view mirror. It allowed parking mode but made my dome lights buzz when switching on and off. The 5-pin 5A harness, connected to an unused plug behind the dome light, fixed it.

A PSA for Toyota hybrid owners (and possibly other makes): don't expect much from parking mode. There's no alternator, and the smart charging system only holds the 12V battery at 12.7-12.9V while driving, though it will charge while parked with ignition on. If a cutoff drains the battery to 12.4V, it may never fully recover without a tender or long ignition-on stretches. The battery is also at the rear of the Sienna, so expect 100-300mV of voltage drop. Set the Dongar Pro+ cutoff lower than your target battery voltage to compensate.

This is a hybrid quirk, not a product issue. I'm very happy with the Dongar Pro+.

I bought the Pro+ because ONLY because Dongar said I needed it to get my 2026 Tundra to power the dashcam when ignition is off from the dome plug. There were three harnesses included. Instructions said to use the 5pin C harness which is oddly named the 3pin B harness (there is no C harness in the box) - no power from dome oem plug. After an hour of messing with it, the 3pin A harness actually provided power. I read elsewhere now that Tundra's don't have 12v constant in that plug so infinite power setting in dongar doesn't help. That contradicts sales and instructions. I'm pretty savvy, but instructions are just all over the place with this stuff. Module itself works fine but only when ignition on. Could have bought a much simpler one and done the same thing.

Instructions were a bit confusing when trying to set the Viofo A229 plus with parking mode. After trial and errors, all is functional.

I appreciate the possibility of changing mode at any time and having the LED screen blacked out.

I wish I would have grabbed a second one for my wife’s Infinity, the delay waiting for the batch to release created the inconvenience of having to wired the camera with the cig. lighter port and once it arrived, taking the wire off. Again, small inconvenience hence why I should have ordered a second one.

For my 2014 Lexus RX 350 the extra wire cannot really hide it behind the cover... I have to come up with a way to wrap them out of the way. Not a big issue I have it tucked up above the mirror for now. The other thing is not quite sure about why it counts down to 26 seconds and then it goes off in the parking mode or the "timer" but I think it might be cause I adjusted the voltage to 12.4 my battery might be weak and need to bring it down to 12volts I set the timer for only 40 miinutes after closing down the ignition. So all in all I like the idea it is good to have the wiring without having to bend like gumby to get under the dashboard! And the features are helpful
